We are all familiar with the centaurs of Greek mythology or the mermaids of more modern times (Splash anyone?). However the idea of human animal hybrids dates as far back as cave paintings and petroglyphs. So why the fascination with these mythical combinations? Most theorize that it’ merely an attempt to imply the spiritual and physical attributes of these creatures in human beings and why not.
With the wild popularity of our Deerly Loved Masterpieces and ibride trays, we wondered what animal people would want to morph with and what that choice says about you? Also would you have the animal body with a human top or vice versa. Or would you really mix it up and have fun with it?
Bunnie Riedel, a communications specialist and founder of the amazing blog nonprofit conversations says she would morph with a Jack Russell Terrier. Seems fitting since Jacks are well balanced, sturdy little creatures who are always on their toes! Victoria from San Francisco Bay Girl picked a dog too, but she wants to be a Labrador saying: “Then maybe I could converse with other dogs, and know what they're really thinking”. Seems her choice speaks to her character as well with this lively and good natured dog who loves to work and play. As for me, I’m feeling a little more off beat and have been personally obsessed with zebras lately (though I do wish they had brown and cream stripes). What that says about me, I’m not sure. Comments welcome!
Want to try your hand at morphing? Here’s a great tutorial to walk you through the photoshop morphing process. Let’s see what we get when we cross a perky friend and watchful barn owl! Just kidding no time for Photshop today.

We've been been greatly anticipating the new ibride trays and are pleased to report that the new sizes and designs are stunning! In addition to the ever popular oval and medium rectangle trays, ibride is now serving up a long narrow tray as well as an over sized tray. The quality and craftsmanship is pristine and the whimsical creatures are as enchanting as ever.

I'm just in love with the new Deerly Loved Masterpiece ready to hang art we have just stocked. And, If you love American Gothic but want to let your lighter side show, you will too. There are ten classics to choose from, each with a brilliantly illustrated animal adaptation. Each is printed on textured canvas and stretched on a ready to hang frame. The flush mounted bracket built into the back of the frame allows you to hang it flat against the wall. Group several for a smart and eye catching arrangement.

Hooray for burnt orange! Maybe it’s just the season but I have been on a huge burnt orange kick lately.colors have such strong influences over our moods and are an easy and wonderful way to spice up your decor. Orange’s are warm and rich. While it is a very grounded color, it also tends to evoke a sense of creativity and enthusiasm without the “fire” that red can bring. It makes me feel curious and inspired; maybe even a little bit grown up.
Work a little orange into your life this fall with a new Becky Oh Wristlet, throw pillow or pieces of artwork.

Before: With the big Thanksgiving dinner coming, there is no better time (or excuse) to freshen up your dinning room decor. This affordable makeover literlly took two days (working leisurely... very leisurly) and only cost about $150.00.
With kids in the house this dinning room has to pull double duty and not only house toys but also serve as an art room & speedway from time to time. Storage was really the biggest addition to this room. The matching buffet is on loan from my dear cousin Brett (who owns the best beach bar in Anguilla... plug ;-). But the cloth lined storage boxes and tall basket really pull the most weight holding easily accessible toys that are easy to put away as well.
The color and lighting were the other obvious and dramatic changes here. Many people (including the previous owners of our house) make the mistake of hanging the table light too high. The scale and height really needs to compliment and balance the table and room. The height should be low enough to create an intimate space but high enough that seated guests can all see across the table. The color here is a slightly darker version of the color in the adjoining living room. The last dash of color is in the new fabric used on the chair seats. In fact I will probably use left over material to make a runner for the side table.... someday!
- paint: $25
- fabric: $23
-storage bins:$50
-Lighting:$54
-cherub child: priceless ;-)

I recently discovered Walnut Wall Paper featured in a great beach house re-design on Design Sponge. The walls literally left me floored. They had character, style and class. Truly something different and just what I’m looking for in my kitchen makeover (that my husband doesn’t know about yet ;-).
If you like dramatic, contemporary and cutting edge wall paper designs you will love browsing their collection. Check out the gallery section for truly dramatic room ideas and let your imagination run wild.

If you have ever yearned to play with a dramatic decorating
choice but are nervous about taking the plunge, dinning room lighting is the
safest place to get started. Drama or whimsy is a welcome change of pace for
the dinning space where people come together to socialize, eat and entertain. With the big Thanksgiving holiday dinner coming, now would be a great time
to update your dinning room lighting with something a little more “you”.
