Typography is such a fun and functional design element. Yet sadly, so many wonderful opportunities are overlooked when type is used in the most standard fashions. I'm often looking for inspiration in the type department and SpeckyBoy has done a great job of pulling together a bunch of awesome examples of type and design in one spot! enjoy!

OMG I Built a Firepit
I have to confess that about 90% of my " little projects" end up as sort of lopsided half done little who knows what's.... but this little fire pit is the cats meow and a just look at the enjoyment it has already brought to my lovely family.
geeez, If Kir was not screaming you would realize that what he is really saying is "holly cow, I love Smores". and what I'm think'n is " wow I can't believe how smart I was to build this high fire wall and easy to care for firepit"

Craigslist Brought This To Me !
One day last summer while walking along the beach my son ran to the edge of the water, picked up a plastic shovel and exclaimed "look Mommy, the ocean brought this to me!" Well. for reasons unknown I felt compelled to pull up Craigslist and do a search for "sectionals" last weekend.And this is what Craigslist brought to me.
When I saw this amazing vintage sectional listed for $75 I almost peed my pants (unlady like I know). It was (barely)used at a summer cottage and the covers all zip off so I was even able to wash them!Compound that on the fact that when I showed up the lady offered it to me for a mere $50 and you got a heck of a Craigslist find there. I do plan on replacing the cushion inserts and making big cushy pillows for the back but for the time being it's just what the family room needed. Thank You Craigslist!
TLC Home Made Simple / Kir Devries Show Filming: The Reveal !
Ok Here I am working with Patrick (The carpentry maven) on a
fabulous dresser re purposing project. Big thanks to Collen Dugan of the
Capitol who took this amazing shot! The dresser project is one of the most
creative repurposing ideas I think I have ever seen. I can't give it away with
pictures but please watch the show- you WILL use the project yourself I can
promise you!
We also reupholstered a beloved chair that my grandfather passed down to me and
now that I am armed with that "know how" you will be seeing lots and
lots of chair makeovers on the blog! The cooking maven, Debra, taught my
husband a new form of cooking that does not involve can openers and microwaves
;-). They rocked out the crab cakes ... who knew they could be so spectacular!

Wanda (the design maven)just defies description- she is as sweet as can be and
brilliant- just brilliant! My office space
was very utilitarian before, it met my needs but was very much overwhelmed with
merchandise, supplies etc. Wanda’s
design ideas solved the clutter issues while creating a truly inspiring space
to work in. The color is stunning and the storage solutions pure genius! Yea… you’re
going to have to watch the episode but I will post images here once it airs as
well!
Lastly I want to mention the crew- what a wonderful bunch of people to wake up to everyday! I must confess I loved having a catering truck parked out front and makeup artist here on call but the friendships we made with the crew were an unexpected surprise. They are all wonderfully dedicated to their craft and very talented. But most of all just the warmest, most wonderful bunch of people you could ask for. I am going to miss having you all here every day!
TLC Home Made Simple Show Filming: Day Two
Alright. I'm tired. I don't know how these production people and celebrities do it. They deserve every penny that they earn! We wrapped day two of filming our episode of Home Made Simple today/tonight. I am going to post a little piece that does these amazingly dedicated and talented folks justice but tonight I am tired and can only say that it has been a fantastic experience. I'm so excited to see the reveal tomorrow (but sadly can not spoil it for you here- you are going to have to wait for it to air to see the actual results !).
